The offers of sunglasses are great, they come on various styles, colors, shapes and quality. In most cases you select a pair of sunglasses because you like then and because they look good on you.
But the protection of your eyes is just as important, this does not mean that the protection has to influence the appearance of your glasses. You can have both simultaneously.
UV protection
The most important is that your sunglasses give you enough protection against UV rays. To be sure that your sunglasses have an adequate protection your sunglasses would have to have a sticker indicating it’s UB protection level: UV 400 or 100% UV protection.
The color of the glass
When you color the glasses of your sunglasses light is absorbed. On today market you have a broad variation of colors. Which color you select depends on your taste, but each color has different properties.
Gray tinted glass
Gray tints reduce the intensity of the light without affecting the colors of the light.
Brown tinted glasses

Reflective or mirrored sunglasses
Mirrored glasses have an extra layer to enable the reflection. They are popular sunglasses but they get scratches quickly.
Photo Chromatic lenses
Photo Chromatic lenses color darker as the UV light increases. The disadvantage is that if you suddenly enter a dark room then your glasses need some time to adjust again.
Frames
Frames are made of different materials. The protection of your eyes has little to do with frames. They have more impact on your appearance and weather your sunglasses are comfortable to wear. Synthetic materials are generally lighter and this more comfortable to wear. Sunglasses for children and babies are easy to carry by the elastic band and still look cool.
Protection of eyes and skin
Sunglasses do not only protect the eyes, but also the skin around the eyes from the sun. Since the skin around the eyes is very thin and prone to wrinkles so this protection is no superfluous luxury. Sunglasses that stays wider at the temples offer an additional protection.
